Parents today needs to take some advice from their parents. The current generation of parents coddle their children too much and do not discipline enough. How many times have you been in a restaurant, and had to listen to someone's screaming kid in the next booth? I bet if you asked those parents why they allowed it, they would probably say, "We want him to express himself freely". What is that? If I acted like an animal in a public place I got put in the car like an animal. If you saw that today, the parent would end up in jail.
Parents simply do not realize the injustice they are doing to their children. Children need discipline. They need to be guided by someone they can trust. Without this guidance they will look for it in other places. Why do you think that gangs are such a problem? Kids are finding the discipline they are looking for from the wrong people. The biggest problem with this is a complete lack of respect.
Parents today want to be their children's friends. This is why their children do not respect them. Take for example a Drill Sergeant, their troops might not like them, but they do respect them. Parents need to be the Drill Sergeant to their kids.
I am not advocating beating your kids into submission, just discipline. My Dad had that "look". When I saw it I knew I messed up. He did not have to hit me to get me to understand. Through that guidance, I have learned how to be a respectable person.
Parents keep this in mind next time your child does something wrong. Remeber these children are the future leaders of our World. |
